The week that was ... Wanaka 2010 - Week 6
With all the celebrations on Friday night, it was a tired and sorry bunch who boarded the bus at 9am last Saturday for the trip to Queenstown. Our first stop was Fergburger, THE best hamburger joint in the world which is busy 24/7.Read entry

The week that was ... Wanaka 2010 - Week 4
Here we are again at the end of another week in Wanaka – the last week of training before the Level 1 exams next week.
Last weekend started with heavy rain in Wanaka and Cardona closed due to heavy snow and strong winds. A do-nothing-day was most welcome – the night before had been Jug Fine Friday while the night ahead was the Traffic Light party – people wear a colour based on whether they are on the pull! Green = available; red = attached; orange = could be persuaded. Needless to say, most SnowSkoolers went dressed in vibrant green.Read entry

Kiaora from the Land of the Long White Cloud, and welcome to quite a few more newsletter recipients. More parents and friends have been added to the list as well as the students themselves. The group over in New Zealand is settling in well to their way of life, including the demanding training regime. Our routine is well established after this second week in which we’ve had a mixed bag of weather plus a few aches, pains and sniffles – all right on schedule for a course such as this!Read entry
what is a botwoker?!
When I was 10 years old my brother and I started skateboarding. Now, at the age of 32, my current board is gathering dust in my bedroom, but it’s still there. Just. And as a result of those intervening years, my mate laughs, sorry, mocks, when I say the words ‘sick’, ‘dope’, or ‘sweet’. But I can’t help it, and then I feel like a wannabe. So it was with arched eyebrows that I read through the ‘Snowboarding Dictionary: Snowboard Definitions, Language, Terms and Slang’ which I had just stumbled acrossRead entry

Banff 2010 - Week 14
The majority of our Snowskoolers are sitting on a plane destined for Britain as I write. A few students will remain out here in Canada to finish out the rest of the season so the goodbyes were rather hard yesterday as they managed to cram themselves and all their baggage onto one bus which would kindly deliver them to Calgary airport.Read entry

Hello and welcome to our final week of lessons!
The first four days this week were practice teach extreme with every group member having a chance to go through a lesson while having the opportunity to ask their instructors anything if need be. On Friday, the instructors made the day into a fun day for each of the groups. One of the snowboard instructors, Kaz, made each person lead the group and decide a theme for the run. Some examples of themes that were used were: G-nar, Harmony, Rad & Rock Out. Fun, fun, fun!Read entry
