The second week of the Banff course kicked off with some fresh snow over the weekend and some warm sunny days (finally).
Some of the group endured a few hangovers on Monday morning to begin a long week of intense but fun lessons. Ollie Williams unfortunately lost just one of his skis in the trees on Monday, only to miraculously find them again on Tuesday with the help of a bunch of kind volunteers!
The Snow dumped hard on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning was spent ripping untouched powder lines and tree runs. The SnowSkool reps led a group of around 8 or 9 SnowSkoolers out into the Sunshine Village side-country, to an area known as “Backdoor”, for some unreal powder turns. Lana Culley, Tom Mascie-Taylor, Kier Coupland, Thijmen Smelt and Ollie Williams were among the squad getting fresh powder in the trees.
Mark, a Sunshine Village instructor working with SnowSkool, spent Thursday testing his group through some of the more challenging mogul sets on the mountain, which they all handled with confidence and ease. Impressive.
Another SnowSkool instructor, Darryl, took his snowboarders into the terrain park on Friday arvo and let them throw down!
The skiers in the group spent Friday afternoon with their respective instructors in the hill bar Trappers. The instructors had feedback and videos to show their guys while they had a few beers and analyzed their technique after a week of hard work.
Drag night Karaoke went down on Friday night with great success. Sam Wright pulled out all the stops, make up, dress and all, to be by far the best lookin’ Gal on SnowSkool at the bar. What an absolute Fox.
Ben Willemson, Mason Schlosser and a few other guys from the group spent the weekend walking through town and stumbled across a “Ghetto park” up on Tunnel Mountain that had a handful of handmade features for the guys to test their skills on.
The week will end with another ‘Sunday Funday’ pub-crawl through the town of Banff. Let’s hope the group can brave the hangovers once again for a full day on Monday!!
Until next time. And here's some images...
