Week 4 here in Banff and it kicked off with a bluebird day! Perfect for the groups last week of lessons before their level 1 exams. Both the snowboarders and skiers have been focusing on their practice teaches this week after mostly focusing on perfecting their riding techniques in previous weeks.

The whole group have spent their evenings resting and preparing for the level 1 exams coming up. Some have been to the hot tubs down the road from the hostel repairing their muscles and others having early movie nights in the lobby by the fire. Everyone was stoked to see Cameron Christopher back on the snow this week after breaking his collarbone on the second day of the trip and having to have surgery. He has been a true trooper and is back shredding, getting the practice in ready for his exam. Welcome back Cam!

Wednesday night bought a whopping 40 cm of snow, with an excited and keen group at breakfast having found out about the snowfall it was soon to everyone's disappointment to find out that the road up the mountain had been shut due to an avalanche covering the road for up to 30ft. Everyone was put on standby, waiting until the lifts and roads were opened. Three and a half hours later than usual the group then got the bus up the mountain. Greeted with some amazing above the knee snow meant it was a powder day for everyone! All the instructors took full advantage, showing their groups all the best places to find the ‘freshies’. All of the SnowSkoolers got stuck in. Many literally, with Eoin managing to lose his ski in the powder and Emma, Oscar and Lucie all managing to lose a pole each, the perils of a pow day!

After a great day with everyone's spirit levels high and snow still falling it was ended with a Disney Quiz in the bar after dinner. (Names) were really showing their Disney knowledge. SnowSkool Adam proving to be the dark horse of Disney knowledge, winning 2 out of 3 rounds!

Friday morning, we were spoilt yet again, arriving up the hill to ten more centimeters of snow, clear blue skies and sunshine all day! The ski and snowboard groups had bits of fun in the powder again that morning whilst still spending time preparing for their level 1. Kenji’s ski group was practicing for their level 1 park in the afternoon, hitting up the jumps and practicing their big airs. As per usual Friday evening welcomes the weekend with Karaoke in the Storm Cellar, everyone was getting involved with more new faces up on stage.

Saturday and Sunday bought two more bluebird days on the slopes. Whilst some of the team stayed in at the weekend resting and revising, many other of the group went up to sunshine to enjoy their weekend on the hill and get in some last-minute practice. Will and Hugh enjoyed doing park laps and ended the day with some good videos of their rail hits. Jonty, Cameron C, Ciaran, Henry and Cedric enjoyed hiking to fresh snow and hitting some tree runs. Ciaran also enjoyed a brilliant tomahawk that left the rest of the group laughing. Orlaith and Lucie enjoyed carving the groomers practicing for their exams. With the exams close, the whole group had a resting evening in, going over teaching theory, cooking dinner and watching movies in the lobby.

Good Luck for your Level 1 next week guys!
