Another beautiful week in the paradise that is Big White. Week 3 kicked off with a series of snow storms which dropped over 30cm of fresh powder in 2 days! The group went out in force shredding and got their first real experience of deep Canadian pow skiing and boarding!
A collection of the SnowSkoolers tried their hand at ice skating on Thursday night at the Happy Valley Skate Rink. Kinga was by far the stand out, lending a hand (or two) to David White - she slowly got David sliding around! Alex Carney and Lockie Allen also deserve a mention, Alex getting his 360 jumps on skates down! Despite many failed attempts he walked away unscathed and managed to join a large cohort of the group at Pub Trivia! Unfortunately, they were not able to pull-off a win this week, maybe a bit of studying of that general knowledge and they’ll get there next time!
The end of the week brought some unseasonably warm and sunny weather. However, it was probably quite fitting given it was Australia day, some of the SnowSkoolers donned outfits, flags and funny hats to celebrate in the sun! Yonatan, Alex and Rhys were amongst a group trying their hand at the jumps in the park, all successfully getting a taste of air time!
Lessons this week began focusing on “the learning experience”. This is a new concept for most of the group and is pivotal for the progression of these future ski and snowboard instructors. Mock lessons were a feature this week, as was introducing concepts related to teaching children! Only one more full week of lessons before we tackle Level 1 out here, all the students are looking to make the most of it before they smash their exam. Lets go!
