It was back to afternoon lessons this week in the lead up to the Level 2 exams. It’s getting tougher now with lots of training to perfect that muscle memory and ensure all types of turns are automatic, particularly across more difficult terrain. In addition, the students have been learning more about how to teach across all the basic elements of skiing using drills and key coaching points, as well as perfecting their demonstrations. Pleased to report a lot of great future instructors can now be seen in the groups!  See for yourselves in the photos below ...

Some snowy and cloudy days made conditions difficult this week but the extra snow that resulted was most welcome!  It proved invaluable for practicing variable skiing as powder techniques.  A few groups spent time dropping steep couloirs again while others have been shredding tree lines and skiing huge moguls that form by the end of the day when lots of people ski the fresh snow.

Wednesday and Thursday were beautiful sunny powder days. Amazing conditions for both having fun and working at our training and, of course, for après ski activities afterwards.

This Sunday we have the Valley Rally to ejnoy. A mad team race across all three valleys while completing various challenges along the way. Photographic evidence is judged at the finish and the team who completes the challenge in the shortest amount of times wins the title.

Good luck to those sitting Level 1 on Sunday. You were looking great in training – just ski with confidence and you will be fine.

Looks like more snow is on the way early in the coming week, which is great news for the resort as it keeps melting under the too frequent sunny skies! It will be great to get out there and enjoy even more new snow.
