There was a bright and early start this week for the Skoolers when the first aid course kicked off. Feedback from the students was really positive with everyone learning a tonne of new skills – pleased to report everyone is now qualified in first aid! Check out the photos below ...

But come Monday, it was back up the hill for the joys of free riding. The park was still the place to be with no new snow blessing the rest of the mountain just yet. Jayde Chandler and Charlotte Hansard decided to swap snow sports for the afternoon with Jayde taking up skiing for the first time and Charlotte on the board! And putting those new instructor skills t6o the test, Ben Holt gave Jayde a lesson and Cliff Coggins was tasked with teaching Charlotte. Both girls absolutely killed it and by the end of their session both were linking turns. Satisfaction all round – and good to know this instructor course is paying off!
Tuesday had the guys switching around their groups again with a strong concentration on nailing the teaching side of things and lots of revision getting done in the evenings. Cheap cinema night was once again on the cards for some of the SnowSkoolers with what sounds like it simply has to become a classic - Hot Tub Time Machine 2 – the movie of choice!
Wednesday was a relaxed day on hill focusing on teaching techniques and analysis of each other’s riding or skiing. In the evening a few of the SnowSkoolers headed over to the hot pools for the regular relaxation session after which a few headed down to the bar for Jam Night. Max Muir, Ben Dodd and SnowSkool Cammy took to the stage on drums, keyboard and guitar … maybe a band is forming?
On Thursday we were teased with a fresh layer of snow but only of 3-4cms. Training saw Ron's group head up and work on their butters and nose/tail presses with Kaz's group working hard on their carving. Thursday night was one for football when a smaller but nonetheless elite group headed off to the Banff centre. Ryan Lawlor, as usual, was pulling off some crazy saves in goal. A full hour of five-a-side definitely made sure that the guys were ready for bed nice and early!
Friday brought with it another beautiful bluebird day. In the morning the skiers grouped up and tackled a slalom course set by the instructors. In the afternoon, Sophie's group headed over and hit some off-piste areas while Dom's group worked on their teaching techniques. Ron's snowboard group concentrated on both switch and regular carving through the boarder cross course while Jesse’s group hit the park to work on their spins and front-side board slides. After lessons the skiers headed into Trappers for a well-deserved beer after a tough week of lessons. At the evening meal everyone sang Happy Birthday to Max Blyth and Adam Ireland, who were also treated to a homemade tarte au citron from the hostel kitchen staff. Finally, congratulations to Sam Butcher who passed his Level 1 Park Course, awesome job!
That's it from us at the moment - back next week in advance of the L2 exams starting.
