Slopes

I could tell you about the fact that Saas Fee boasts a vertical drop of more than one mile with  skiing from the top of the summit sector to the village at the bottom (non-stop for those with a little steel in their thighs!) and I could describe in detail the best runs in the five different sectors that the ski area is split into but to be honest, this would all be a little disingenuous. For the duration of the SnowSkool course (October and November) you will be confined to the glacier ski area which, although one of the largest of its kind in Europe, can only boast 20km of piste.

It may be small (compared to the full ski area in the middle of winter) but it has more than enough scale and diversity to accommodate a Level 1 & Level 2 instructor training course, as evidenced by the fact that many international ski teams in both race and freestyle select Saas Fee as the destination for their training ahead of the winter season of competition.

And, let's not forget that the Saas Fee bit is the training and your real season begins when you get out to Grimentz, Nendaz, Crans Montana, Chatel or Champery!

Nightlife

Saas Fee has a buzzing apres scene with some stand-out venues such as the fabulous 'Ice Pavilion' inside the glacier at Mittelallalin, the cluster of sun terraces and umbrella bars on the snow-front, live music at the Dom Bar and wanky places such as Poison, High-Life and Metro but ... again ... most of these places will be closed in the Autumn. There will be plenty of places open for dinner and drinks but you will not get the same wide range of eateries and watering holes in October and November as you will in January and February.

But of course, when you move on and start earning as an instructor, you can check out Monk'is Bar in Crans Montana or la Godille in Chatel or Œnothèque in Grimentz!
