BASI Ski Courses - Méribel - Three Valleys

Train as a ski instructor in the world’s largest ski area

There are some pretty compelling reasons for joining the SnowSkool ski instructor course in Three Valleys. First up, your lovely SnowSkool team has secured some lovely catered chalets in Méribel ... just a short walk from all the shops, bars & restaurants in the centre. Think en-suite bedrooms, friendly chalet hosts and large, comfortable lounges with roaring fireplaces! People are genuinely surprised at the quality of the chalets ... the accommodation alone is almost worth the course fees! And you can take a virtual tour of one of our chalets here:

Another reason is the location; Méribel is a fantastic town with great shops, bars & restaurants and an insane nightlife. More importantly than that, it is at the centre of The Three Valleys which, with 600km of piste connecting Méribel up to Courchevel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, is the largest ski area in the world!

And did we mention our training partners? BASS (British Alpine Snowsports School) is more of a ski instructor training centre than a standard Ski School and is packed full of the most highly-qualified and experienced BASI ski instructors – all ski trainers assigned to the SnowSkool programme are BASI-approved examiners.

But it's worth remembering that you’ll need your wits about you as this is a tough course combining training, work experience, exams lasting two weeks and a first-aid course ... but one with a soft centre as you will discover when you sink into the plump sofas in your ski chalet. And in the end, you’ll be a BASI ski instructor - a ticket to ride throughout the skiing world!

I’m not going to say that my boss is a bit of a numpty but giving me 100 words to describe the world’s largest ski area - a phenomenal alpine theatre measuring 15000 acres, spanning three (or, well, four) huge valleys and with 600 km of pistes connecting up the world-famous villages of Courchevel, Méribel & Val Thorens – was always going to be a tough gig. I suppose it helps that, as the world’s favourite ski destination, there is a chance you’ve been there already so don’t need me to waffle on about numbers of lifts and amazing parks and breath-taking scenery and slope-side bars and fluffy snow and insane off-piste ...

To ensure the best possible tuition on the SnowSkool instructor course in The Three Valleys, SnowSkool has partnered with BASS – British Alpine Snowsports School. BASS is more than a Ski School, it is a specialist ski instructor training centre full of the most highly-qualified BASI ISTD instructors. Not only that, all trainers assigned to the SnowSkool ski instructor course will be BASI Examiners – the people that teach the teachers! The SnowSkool course is full-in and pretty intense and so we wanted to ensure that you are learning your craft from the best of the best!

We offer the ski instructor qualifications of BASI (British Association of Snowsport Instructors) on the SnowSkool course in The Three Valleys. Candidates on the eleven week ski instructor course will sit the Ski Level 1 and Ski Level 2 qualifications. These are modular and so as well as the five-day Ski Level 1 exam, you will have to sit the Child Protection in Sports & Leisure, 35 hours of Ski School experience and a BASI-approved first-aid course. Alongside the ten-day Ski Level 2 exam, you will have to log a further 35 hours of Ski School experience.

Your SnowSkool Rep

Along with our sister brand, The Chalet Company, we have a big team in Méribel with a Resort Manager, two Chalet Managers, multiple chalet hosts and drivers and maintenance people so there is always someone around to offer some guidance if it is needed. But your best friend of them all with be the SnowSkool rep. The role of the SnowSkool rep is to bring together all aspects of the SnowSkool course and to make sure you make the most of your season in the Alps.
