Ski Instructor Courses in The Three Valleys

BASI ski instruction in the world’s largest ski area

It’s the experienced skier that joins SnowSkool in France. This is our toughest course...this is the SAS of instructor training, this is the Hulk Hogan of ski courses! OK so it may not be quite as tough as Monsieur Hogan but you are going to hit the ground running and the name of a slope written in white on black should hold no fear for you.

And so it has to be. SnowSkool’s ski instructor course in France is eleven weeks in length and, with weekends off, that is a mere fifty days. During that time, you have to fit in ~ 115 hours of expert ski tuition, 70 hours of Ski School experience, the 5-day BASI Level 1 exam, the 10-day BASI Level 2 exam, a two-day first aid course, a ½ day child protection module, an avalanche awareness course and a ski tuning workshop. Oh…and the odd spot of après to keep the social wheels greased!

But at the end, you’ll be a BASI (wo)man - a ticket to ride throughout the skiing world!

Slopes

The Three Valleys is…in the words of Napoleon Bonaparte…”sick”. It is the world’s largest ski area and so describing the slopes is not something that can be squeezed into 100 words. 1000 words would do it scant justice. Maybe 100000 words, 10000 pictures and 1000 videos could begin to convey the all-round awesomeness of the place. But then what is the point of that? As the world’s favourite ski destination the chances are you’ve been there and experienced it yourself. Whatever the case, it’s not half-bad and my 100 word limit has been reached. So I’ll just see you out there.

Accommodation + Meals

Méribel is to chalets what Las Vegas is to bling. And, with the hotels being exorbitantly-priced and the apartments being no bigger than a shoe-box, we cosied-up to our buddies over at The Chalet Company and blagged them into giving us some sweet chalets in the village of Les Allues!  And here's what you can expect ...

  • Rustic, traditional chalets (exterior!)
  • Modern and stylish interior
  • Large communal areas
  • Located close to Village Centre
  • Free WiFi
  • TV, Stereo and DVD players
  • En-suite (supplement payable)
  • Chalet hosts

Standard rooms are twin-share
There is the option to upgrade to a private room with prices starting from £450
Breakfast and home-cooked evening meals are provided 6-days per week by your chalet host

Tuition

In the Three Valleys, SnowSkool works with Parallel Lines - without doubt the finest of Méribel Ski Schools! All Parallel Lines instructors are BASI ISTD (the highest level available in the BASI system) with full French equivalence. Achieving this level takes a lifetime of devotion to skiing and, as mentioned at the top of this page, it is a very full-on course with tuition aplenty!

Qualifications

On the Three Valleys ski instructor course, you will go for the Alpine (Ski) qualifications of BASI (British Association of Snowsport Instructors). Subject to the appropriate amount of work and dedication, as well as logging the required amount of Ski School experience (35 hours for Level 1 and 35 hours for Level 2), you should aim to leave the ten-week SnowSkool course as a BASI Level 2 ski instructor!

Your SnowSkool Rep

With a Resort Manager, a number of chalet hosts and two dedicated SnowSkool reps, we have a big team in the Three Valleys! The SnowSkool reps are there to make sure you don’t miss out on anything; be that a practice lesson, a moguls improvement session, shadowing a senior instructor, a spot of apres at Ronnies or Jack’s Bar or an all-nighter at O’Sullivans. Think of your SnowSkool rep as the mid-point between your Mum and your best wing-(wo)man…
