Big White 2010 - Week 3
Tuesday was Australia Day and with 86% of the Big White population hailing from Downunder, it was not surprising to find Big White rocking all day to the sounds of AC/DC and Men At Work. The Aussies hit the slopes in boardies, bikinis plus anything green and gold, with more than one inflatable kangaroo in tow.

Banff 2010 - Week 1
Hello to you all and welcome to the weekly newsletter for SnowSkool Banff 2010. The plan is to send through an update of what’s been happening over here in Canada’s beautiful Rocky Mountains as this year’s group goes through its paces of instructor training. It’s not meant to replace personal communication from your SnowSkooler but rather, supplement it. We will try and put some photos up online each week as well.

the week that was ... NZ ‘09 - Week 10
Hello from New Zealand for the very last time. Our ten weeks are all but over and we’re already moving on to our respective homes, to new travels and adventures…
The majority of our NZ 2009 SnowSkoolers are already making their long way home to the UK (nothing 36 hours of travel won’t do for you), with a few heading to Australia first or stopping over in the USA. After a huge night last night followed by an early start this morning for the long bus trip to Christchurch, all at least made it to the first flight on time, tired to the core but very satisfied. As I write this, they should be on board NZ2, due to take off right about now. I will miss them. They have been terrific and I was sad to see them go. We have achieved a baggage miracle - despite Air New Zealand having to take more fuel on board to get it all home only two have paid any extra charges, and then only because they opted to take a third bag with them. Everyone else with only two bags (despite some astounding weights associated with them), went straight through.

Another fun and successful week in Wanaka as our time here draws to a close. My husband arrived on Saturday to help us pack up and take his girls home next week. It was great to be back together again after some eight weeks apart.

the week that was ... NZ ‘09 - Week 8
And the snow just kept on coming – buckets of the stuff. As the bus left the hill on Tuesday afternoon, the snow had already reached right the way down to the main road, which was a first for us for the season. We lost our first day of training this week when Cardrona closing due to high winds on Wednesday. Already suited up and on the bus, the group started to make plans to head back to bed when the trainers advised there would be a classroom session instead, with skiers attending in the morning and boarders in the afternoon. Having a day off mid-week was probably a good thing, to be honest – all seemed to enjoy the extra free time. The other half-day of training was made up on Friday morning on the slopes at Cardrona – in picture-postcard conditions with brilliant blue skies. It was so perfect, even I went for a ski! It was fun to see most of them on out there doing their stuff and seeing the dramatic improvements that have been made all around. It was also an experience touring the mountain with Jamie, who has been up nigh on every day since late June. He knows ALL the lifties, who, because of his frequent presence, have dubbed him the Cardona mascot!
