When it comes to choosing a pair of skis for your instructor course in Banff or Big White, we are following the guidance of the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (who will be examining you!). The information and recommendations are made to ensure that you are on a ski that maximises your chance of passing your CSIA Level 1 & 2 instructor exams.

When choosing a ski for your SnowSkool Banff course you should look for:

1. Either an All Mountain Ski or a Piste Ski

2. A ski with a waist somewhere between 80 – 85mm

3. A ski with a turning radius of 14-15 metres

We are able to recommend a few skis that are deemed perfect for SnowSkool Banff. This doesn’t mean you should be rushing out to buy this exact ski, but buying a ski that is extremely similar to the skis listed below (in terms of type and waist) is highly recommended …

• Head Kore 87 & 85W

• Volkl Blaze 86 / Flair 79W

• Salomon Stance 84

• Head Total Joy

• Fischer RC One 86 & 82W

• Rossignol Experience 82

• Atomic Maverick 88

Good luck find the right ski for you. When you book onto one of our courses we have some good partnership deals. Check out our ski instructor courses and internships in Canada here.

Next up in our series on equipment we'll be focussing on snowboards. Yes, we offer great snowboard instructor courses too.

Best wishes
