Week four was a big one – Level 1 exams! However, there was plenty of time for exploring Red Mountain, double black diamonds, lake dips, donuts and the Six Nations…
✏️ The weather seems like a good place to start… a powder day kicked off the week with 16cm of fresh snow. A real delight ahead of a serious week!
✏️ The weather cleared up and was pretty much bluebird by day, stunning sunsets by night.
✏️ Wednesday to Friday was the exam. Everyone passed – hurrah! – snowboarder Sean was injured, but still passed the teaching element.
✏️ We enjoyed a celebration party with rivals-slash-pals from Nothin But Snow, who also smashed their Level 1s this week.
✏️ New arrival Ben (who switched onto the course from his brother, and joins his Dad in resort!) got to resort and is staying with the crew in Raven.
✏️ We enjoyed a fab meal at Gunbarrel on Friday. They even printed us our own menu… VIPs!
✏️ Major kudos to Georgie, Tom and Hannah who braved a late-night dip in the lake. Wim Hof would have been proud.
✏️ There were more activities as we finally went tubing on Thursday for Jean-Luc’s birthday. You can actually buy a tubing season pass in Big White!
✏️ Further adventures on snow… Jean-Luc, Tori, Kahn, James, Hannah, Georgie, Tom, Cameron Phoebe, Grace and Tom went to nearby resort Red Mountain for the weekend. A few of the group tackled their first double black diamond – the toughest grade of slope.
✏️ Back in Big White, apparently the Bullet chairlift had 11,000 ticket scans on Saturday - as if we have to actually share the mountain now, ugh.
✏️ In other sports, the Six Nations rugby kicked off this weekend. Olly, Joel, Jim, Andrew, Callum, Jake and Lucky watched Scotland beat England 20-17 – some more pleased than others!
✏️ The Winter Olympics also commenced this week. Tess Critchlow, from Big White, is participating in the snowboard cross so Big White was treated to free doughnuts! Bodies of athletes us…!
✏️ Speaking of delicious treats, Carey and Kate went to get beavertails on Sunday. (Beavertails being an iconic Canadian pastry - Google them!)
