At 24 having completed a 2 year graduate scheme, Katie was looking for a career break.
‘I had always wanted to do a ski season, but I graduated from university during covid. So, I thought when I finished my graduate scheme it would be the perfect time to give it a go’
Why SnowSkool?
Katie said she looked at a number of companies offering ski instructor courses and SnowSkool ticked all the right boxes for her. What were those boxes?
‘When comparing with other companies and courses, the amount of time that we had to complete it was a big difference as I knew I didn’t want to do something that would only take a few weeks to complete. The accommodation, and everything that was included in the package for the prices was also another big selling point and stood out for me’
Katie had been to Banff when she was younger. Knowing it was lively as well as beautiful made her decision on which SnowSkool resort to plump for.
As an experienced skier with 15 years skiing under her belt, Katie found the teaching ‘incredible - so many good instructors that you get to know really well and who genuinely wanted the best for us in our skiing and exams’.
It wasn’t just the brilliant teaching that made it ‘the best experience I have had so far’. Katie says her ‘biggest takeaway is definitely the people’. She tells me she has made friends for life in spite of knowing them for a short period of time. And enthused about the plethora of activities on offer from the hostel, the great night life in town as well as the shops and restaurants all of which made for busy fun times - ‘impossible to be bored’ said Katie. But she also appreciated the option of quiet walks in the stunning countryside too - being able to enjoy the ‘best of both worlds’.
So what now?
‘I am heading back home to work after the course but definitely keeping my options open in terms of coming back out for another season and becoming a ski instructor!’

‘I would highly recommend the course. You get so much experience and make so many connections in the ski world. The people you meet definitely make the trip worthwhile’
