The thought of starting SnowSkool brings with it the same questions that accompany the first week of a new term at school/university. Questions such as, where do we get food and how often? What time are our classes? Will they be hard? What will my classmates be like? However, unlike school, with SnowSkool, instead of being inundated with homework and getting lost, we were introduced to our lovely hosts and rep who had all the answers to our questions upon arrival! Even better was that we were on the slopes within less than 24h of arrival!

The tuition we have received from Parallel Lines exceeded my expectations. Our instructor, John, has been so impressive with his breadth of knowledge and exceptional teaching methods, each day I return to the chalet pleased with another great day of learning on the hill. To top this off, the other people on the SnowSkool course are all equally keen to learn as me and are very friendly, giving lessons a relaxed vibe.

Obviously arriving to a new country, with a new routine and new people was a little daunting at first, however despite my pre-course apprehensions, it was easy to make friends because of the huge diversity of like-minded individuals on the course. Our hosts organised a catered party in one of the chalets, for everyone on the course to attend, which provided a perfect opportunity to get to know the rest of the course. After this, our rep, Nathalie, took us out into Meribel centre for some extended apres drinks!

The mountains here are the most expansive slopes I have ever been to and the opportunities that they provide for excellent skiing are almost endless! Both challenging runs to occupy an adventurous mind and scenic blue and green runs on which to simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings. What furthers my enjoyment of the three valleys is the easy access to countless bars and restaurants available for apres on and off the mountain which our rep has shown us around with great care and attention!

One of the best things I have to say about my first week here at SnowSkool, is that there is a great mix of fun to be had on and off the mountain. I am looking forward to what is to come in the next 10 weeks!
