Snowboard Intructor Course in The Three Valleys

Ten days to train as a snowboard instructor

The ten-day snowboard instructor course in the Three Valleys give you the relatively unique opportunity to become a snowboard instructor as part of your annual leave – a little more exciting a life story than sitting on the beach in Tenerife sipping a Pina Colada! It is a pretty tough course so get ready to get your shred on. You will go straight into 4 half days of training with some of France’s most highly-qualified snowboard instructors and then get stuck straight into the five-day BASI Level 1 Snowboard Instructor exam on the Monday of week two. You are also likely to want to head out to experience a little of Méribel’s famous apres scene!

Because the ten-day snowboard instructor course runs at the beginning of the season, you will have the rest of the season to make the most of your new skills/ qualifications.

Slopes

A short paragraph doesn’t seem a lot of space to describe the world’s largest ski area. 600km of pistes interconnected by some-190 lifts and eight resorts which have household names the world over - Méribel, Courchevel, Val Thorens. It is a magical place, but you probably know that. As the world’s favourite ski area, there is an outside chance that you have been there and snowboarded its hallowed slopes. In which case all I can say is that, having visited the best resorts in Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland and the USA, it simply does not get better than the Three Valleys. Notice Scotland wasn’t included in that list…!

Accommodation + Meals

Méribel is all about the chalets and SnowSkool has snapped up some sweet pads for the instructor course - all are located just a short walk from all the shops, bars & restaurants in Méribel Centre and all bedrooms have en-suites. Chalets are the ideal base for a course of this nature, a veritable home from home providing ample living space for the season.

  • Close to Méribel Centre
  • Easy access for Méribel nightlife
  • Easy access for bus to slopes
  • All en-suite bedrooms
  • Chalet hosts
  • Large communal areas
  • Free WiFi
  • TV, Stereo & DVD players

There is the option to pay an additional fee to take a single-person private room.
Breakfast and home-cooked evening meals are provided 6-days per week by the chalet host.

Tuition

SnowSkool has teamed-up with a specialist BASI Snowboard School for our Three Valleys snowboard instructor course. All instructors hold the BASI ISTD qualification with full French equivalence. This is the top level certificate in the BASI system and it is fair to say that these guys truly are at the top of their game. So four full on half days of training with your snowboard instructors on arrival, followed by your five-day exam in week 2 with your BASI Trainers - safe to assume you'll leave a better snowboarder than when you arrive!

Qualifications

Snowboarders on the Three Valleys course will sit the snowboard instructor qualifications of the British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI). After completing the SnowSkool course, you'll need to complete a first-aid qualification, an online child protection module and log 35 hours of Snowboard School experience to gain your BASI teaching licence. Please contact one of the SnowSkool team for more information.

Your SnowSkool Rep

We have a big team in Méribel. Supporting the team back home in the office and the Resort Manager on-site, we have two SnowSkool reps and 8 chalet hosts! The reps role is probably the most ambiguous – their duties include (but are not limited to) organising your weekly schedule (lessons/ exams/ course/ work experience), taking photos of you on the slopes, organising trips to other resorts and planning the odd après session and nights out. Sounds fun but they’re on duty 24:7!
