What makes the best ski instructor courses?? What are the ingredients for a superior snowboard instructor course??

We reckon you need:

  • a buzzing resort,
  • solid snowfall,
  • plentiful powderfields,
  • fun accommodation,
  • tonnes of decent grub,
  • elite trainers who know their stuff –
  • oh, and a mega-organised, team of legends running the whole thing!

We sit in SnowSkool HQ all year planning ski and snowboard instructor courses but, on the ground in resort, it’s our Course Leaders who get stuff done.

We’re delighted to introduce Claudia – our Course Leader/Rep in France’s Three Valleys this season. Claudia got the gig (potentially one of the best season jobs in the mountains!?) because of her big love for the Alps and as someone who can ski hard and après hard... AKA, keep up with the SnowSkoolers!

Meet SnowSkool Three Valleys Course Leader, Claudia

What are you most looking forward to about this season?

Living life everyday surrounded by people with the same love of the mountains! Having just graduated with a degree in Architecture I’m super ready to just be outside, ski and experience other snow-related activities I haven’t tried before.

What’s your go-to chairlift snack?

A big fan of all day breakfast, I’m a sucker for cereals, both in bar form and au natural. You can often find in my bag anything from golden nuggets to mini-weetabix, alongside gods own creation that is the strawberry Yop.

What’s your pet-hate in a ski resort?

Watching people really awkwardly carrying their skis and poles

Are you first-lifts or last-at-the-bar?

I definitely used to balance both… PowerAde + a Berocca and I was good to go! But now, at my grand old age of 23, I’ll be honest, I don’t always make first lift.

Do you ski or snowboard?

I’m a skier, but I am desperate to try boarding – something I haven’t done before as on holiday, time is precious and I don’t want to waste a day on my bum :/

What do you do on a white-out day?

I believe preparations for après just move forward an hour or five?

What’s your best icebreaker on a long, quiet chairlift?

I’m always super happy to chat to anyone about prettttttty much anything. I find everyone is always happy on the mountain, you’ve instantly got a shared interest and I will be finding out about their Grandma’s dog’s sister in no time.

Where’s your favourite place to ski or ride?

I spent my childhood growing up on the slopes of Tignes, returning is always incredibly nostalgic but I’m super excited to now ski outside of Espace Killy.

What’s your most precious bit of ski kit?

Having had my Oakleys stolen from my helmet at Folie (so over it and not bitter at all) my Dragons are now a prized position and come with a padlock.

Best outfit you’ve seen on the slopes?

Anything Monsters Inc related – you will see me sporting a Sully onesie in Sully’s bar at any possible opportunity.
