Thinking about joining a ski or snowboard instructor course with SnowSkool in Meribél? You probably want to know more than just the training hours. What’s the vibe? What do people actually do off the slopes?
Here’s the lowdown on the SnowSkool lifestyle. From après-ing until sunset, cheering the black, blue and greys at an ice hockey match, or even swapping the skis for skates, we’ve got you covered.
There’s More to Life Than Après
Don’t get me wrong - dancing on a sticky table at Ronnie’s after an intense day of lessons? Unbeatable. But what else do our SnowSkoolers get up to in the three valleys?
Tyler, our 24/25 rep in Meribél, made sure there was a weekly social. Whether it was bowling, a chalet-style pub quiz, or a chilled drink at the local, there were always chances to get stuck in.
Out of everything he organised, two events proved to be the biggest hits. One was an overnight hike to Refuge des Lacs Merlet in Courchevel, just after final exams.
“You had to bring all your supplies- food, firewood, water. There’s no electricity or anything like that,” says Tyler.
“It was a really fun night under the stars. Just mountains around you.”
The Valley Rally- SnowSkool Style
Now for the chaos. The Valley Rally is the fiercest team comp on the mountain - and Tyler’s version didn’t disappoint.
Think:
- Mountain-wide ‘scavenger hunt.’
- Fancy dress themes (yes, bikinis and pajamas included).
- Spoonfuls of wasabi. Raw Eggs. Proposals to strangers.
One SnowSkooler even scored a free bottle of prosecco from Jacks Les Menuires for popping the big question to someone they’d just met.
“It’s just a really fun day. Some people took it seriously. Some people didn't,” says Tyler.
Why Does This All Matter?
Sure, you’ll get expert training and a world-class resort. But it’s the social side of SnowSkool that will stick with you long after you leave the slopes.
The friendships made here - over mountain dinners and daft challenges - often last way beyond the season. And, who knows, you might just walk away with a legendary Valley Rally story.
